Food Assistance

Food assistance is available to all qualifying residents of Prince George’s County; we are income based.  First time clients need an appointment; same day appointments are available. A photo of your driver’s license will be taken on your first visit to verify residency. You will be given an application to fill out and return on your next visit.

Required documentation:

  • Current ID
  • Identification for all household members
  • Proof of income
  • Proof of school enrollment for children attending K – 12th grade

Note:  The pantry will make copies of required documents.

Once approved, clients will be able to come to the pantry once or twice a month.  Each household will receive 2 pre-packed bags with dry and canned goods as well as personal care items and toilet paper. The pantry will also provide fresh produce and other perishable items.

 

Emergency Aid Fund–Opening March 1, 2026

Please call ahead so we can go over guidelines with you and arrange for you to pick up the application.

Emergency Aid Funds are available to all qualifying residents.  To qualify you must meet the qualifications below: 

Financial Assistance Policy- March 2026

  1. Active client of at least 6 months and in good standing may apply for assistance.
  2. Assistance may be received once every 5 years; clients will start with a clean slate in March 2026.
  3. Applicants must have lived at current address for one or more years for rental/mortgage assistance.
  4. Applicants must have lived at current address for one or more years for utility assistance.
  5. Clients who are temporarily unable to make payments due to unforeseen circumstances/emergency and can show a way forward may apply.
  6. Applicants must provide an explanation of how they fell behind and how they will manage going forward.
  7. All payments are directed to the utility and/or landlord/mortgage company.
  8. Recipients of Section 8 housing assistance are not eligible for rental assistance.
  9. Applicants must provide 2 months of current bank statements, lease, ledger of rent/mortgage payment history, current utility bills, and proof of income (including job offer letters) for all adult members of the household.
  10. A W-9 form is required from landlords when rental assistance is requested.
  11. Partial payments are possible.

Only completed applications will be reviewed. The Director will notify you of any missing items.  A financial committee will review the completed application within one week of receiving.

    Referrals

    We also provide referrals to other helping agencies in Prince George’s County.  We recommend that all potential and current clients apply to the Department of Social Services for benefits.
